APPEARANCE DESCRIPTIONCamden can be an imposing figure at times. Standing just over six feet, he may not be the tallest person on staff but he uses his full height to his advantage. Camden will stand with razor-straight posture, his chin held high, and a condescending glare etched across his face. Around the office Camden will never slouch whether he is sitting or standing, he has to always appear as a figure of power. Also, more often than not, his arms are folded across his chest or down at his sides. Most of the staff claims they have never seen him relax once in his life. His weight only adds to his intimidating figure. He is on the thin side, but he has put a lot of focus into his physical fitness and is filled out in that respect.
Many years ago Camden’s hair had been such a dark brown that it almost appeared black. Over the last twenty years it has almost grayed to the point that the original color cannot be seen. Camden’s hairline is slowly receding but what remains grows quickly and he has to get it cut at least once a month. To keep his clean-cut appearance, his hair is neatly brushed back, but he doesn’t like to use gels so it is not slicked. It is difficult to tell what color Camden’s eyes are. He effectively hides them behind a pair of thick-rimmed glasses; he also seems to be perpetually glaring at his staff. His eyes are thickly lined in the corners and he constantly has dark rims underneath his eyes from working late hours at the office.
Camden’s dressing style matches his clean-cut appearance. Every day he wears the same exact thing: a white collared shirt, black trousers, a pair of leather shoes, and a tie. The only variable in his outfit is the tie changes in pattern but is never a color other than black or gray. Over his clothes he wears a standard-issue white lab coat. In the front pocket of his coat he keeps his master keycard. Camden does not like to keep his belonging in the side pockets in fear that they could be stolen.
Camden has the Templar cross tattooed his wrist. He had it done in his early thirties and used to wear it in the open. Since receiving his position and having grown more paranoid, he hides it with his watch or his shirt cuff.
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION
[PARANOID]
There is a fine line between cynicism and paranoia, and Camden dances on that line. Camden has a strict belief that no one can be trusted and he is very vocal about this belief. He doesn’t trust the staff underneath him and is constantly monitoring their communications and he has become notorious with the security staff for constantly hounding them. Whenever he suspects something of a staff member, he is known to pour over various security tapes and email transcripts trying to find proof. Often it turns up very little evidence. Camden is also very protective of his possessions. He never keeps anything of importance in his side pockets in fear that he might be pick pocketed and he keeps very little in his office. His master keycard, the main item he is paranoid about losing, is kept in the breast pocket of his lab coat.
[AMBITIOUS]
Camden has spent over half of his life focused on climbing the ladder at Abstergo. He has never been afraid to backstab or play snitch if it meant a promotion. Over the years this has not gained Camden many friends, but he has never really cared. The only thing he desires is power and he will do anything to get that power. Power is the only way to achieve his goals and he has become obsessed with gaining it. This may have been the reason he was drawn to the Templars in the first place.
[CONTROLLING]
Camden’s philosophy is that life is an experiment and he will not achieve his desired result unless he controls all of the variables. Since he was a small child, Camden had never liked being given orders or being taught that his life was not in his control. He wanted to be the one to dictate how his life turned out. As he grew older, this need mellowed out slightly. He wanted control but didn’t pitch a fit when he didn’t have it. This changed after the apparent murder of his wife and son; someone had taken control and turned his life upside down. Over the years that followed Camden became obsessed with having complete control over the details of his life and control over the people around him.
[HOT-TEMPERED]
It is difficult to make Camden angry but once he is, it is difficult to calm him down. A majority of the time Camden prefers to keep a calm and collected air about him. He never looks more than mildly irritated around the staff with a sigh and a shake of his head. When Camden Wilson is truly angry, there is no stopping the fury that is about to be unleashed. Quickly he becomes red-faced and screaming but rarely resulting to physical violence. He will only start a fight if he is truly outraged.
[LOYAL]
Every drop of Camden’s loyalty belongs to the Templars. He upholds its beliefs and would give his life to bring success to the Order. Camden does not see a life for himself outside the Templars and does not wish for anything different. However, while he is loyal to the Templar cause, he is not loyal to any single person. He may trust the beliefs and the causes but he does not trust his ‘brothers’. He is willing to stab them in the back if it means benefitting himself or the Order.
HISTORYCamden was practically born into the Templar Order. His mother, Helen Wilson, had little idea that the Templar Order existed but Camden’s father, Michael, had been almost a lifetime member. Michael Wilson was one of Abstergo’s first employees and worked on some of Abstergo’s most sensitive projects during his time. Eventually, when Camden was born, Michael instilled the many beliefs of the Templar Order in his son and ensured that his son would follow in his footsteps. This goal took a sour turn when Camden was fourteen.
As a teenager, Camden had a rebellious streak. He became wary of his father who micromanaged every aspect of Camden’s life from the clothing he wore to the people he was friends with. This caused Camden to lash out and it was only fueled by the brutal punishment he received. At one point Camden even resorted to running away when he was sixteen. For about three months, Camden managed on his own by finding odd jobs and sleeping in homeless shelters. That was until he received the news of his father’s death. He and his mother were told that Michael had been mugged and shot while working in the city. Camden would later find out that his father was assassinated.
After that Camden pulled his life back together, he returned to high school and later went on to college. After his graduation, Camden was approached by Abstergo Industries and offered a position in the foreign relations department. Unable to turn down the opportunity, he was quickly hired by Abstergo and reintroduced to the Templar Order which picked up where Camden’s father had left off. Camden made a place for himself within the company and proved to be a very bright individual with a passion for success.
In 1976, Camden met Hannah McKenzie. She was smart, she was beautiful, and she was everything Camden had wanted in a woman. They met through a friend while Camden was living in New York and after a blind date, they had hit it off. It was barely a year later that they married. However their relationship was strained when Camden’s work started to take him away from New York for extended amounts of time. It was sometimes weeks between times when Camden and Hannah were together. After a nasty fight, Camden acted against his ambitions for the greater good of their marriage. He requested to transfer to the research department which required less travel.
On December 3rd, 1984, Jacob Luke Wilson was born. His existence had not really been planned. Camden and Hannah had made it clear many times that they were not interested in having children despite their parents’ protests. It happened though and they couldn’t imagine their lives any other way after that. Jacob was never a fussy baby, always smiling. He was the center of his parents’ lives.
At this point, Camden believed that he had a perfect life. He had a beautiful wife and son, a well-paying job, and direction in his life. This came crumbling down on a date Camden would never forget.
For the first time since Jacob’s birth, Camden was sent on a business trip to London. At first he was worried about leaving Hannah behind with the baby but again and again his wife assured him that she would be fine on her own. Reluctantly, he left them behind for two weeks while he was in the United Kingdom. He returned on August 15, 1985 to a gruesome sight. The house was empty, the ground of their living room covered in blood, Hannah and Jacob were missing. The police search turned up nothing; it seemed that his wife and son had disappeared off the face of the planet. To cope with their disappearance, Camden was quick to blame the Assassins. They had killed his father, why not his wife and child as well? That was when Camden plunged into the Templar Order with a renewed vigor. He sought to destroy the Assassins once and for all.
In 1988 Camden was placed on the Animus Project and transferred to the Abstergo Testing Center where he began work researching the bleeding effect. The man who spearheaded the original project was an elderly man and he passed away shortly after the research started. Camden was named his successor and given control of the facility. For almost thirty years now, Camden has been conducting research on the Bleeding Effect and believes he is close to the results the Templars seek. The possibility of being able to train Templars to fight against the assassins fits right into Camden’s goals.
While some of his coworkers are often curious about their ancestry and have on occasion decided to experience the Animus, Camden had no such desires. Besides Animus Sessions, he does not enter the Animus testing rooms and does not interact with the subjects. Camden would never admit this but he fears the consequences of the bleeding effect and never wants to experience them first hand.
